The North Saskatchewan River Valley could become Alberta’s first Urban National Park! Join the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society chapter of Northern Alberta in exploring Edmonton’s diverse urban parks this summer.

We’ll explore Dawson park’s sturgeon conservation area & the different kinds of plants that call the river valley home. Make sure to come wearing good footwear for hiking on dirt trails, a water-bottle, and pack an extra layer incase of light rain or wind.

Weather permitting, we will meet at the end of the crescent at 10091 94 St NW. There is parking nearby this trail head.

Dry Horizons Screening and Activism Workshop with Elements Outfitters

Jun 5, 2025 at 6:00 pm

Join us at the new Elements Outfitters store location in Edmonton South Common on June 5th at 6:00PM for a screening of Dry Horizons followed by an activism workshop! All ticket and drink sales will be donated to CPAWS.

About the Film

The Eastern Slopes are the home of our headwaters, and the drinking water of more than 2 million Albertans. Dry Horizons explores the threats posed to them, and our regional water quality and quantity, by overuse and abuse, industrial resource extraction — including coal and forestry — and the failures of current government policy.

Produced by CPAWS Southern Alberta, the Pekisko Group, and Backcountry Hunters and Anglers and directed by Ryan HK, this compelling original film will educate and inspire Albertans of all backgrounds to take action to protect this vital place now and into the future.
